When we first meet people, our natural inclination is to size them
up. We create an immediate impression. Unfortunately, we often hold on to
those hasty conclusions and never revise them.
3 John 11-12 speaks directly to that, "Beloved, do not imitate what is
evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has
not seen God. Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the
truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is
true."
Someone, speaking on behalf of someone else, helps us to re-adjust our
impressions. It is not the clothes or hairstyle, it is what people do
and say that comes from the heart (or not) that we look at.
