Uzziah, from 2 Chronicles 26:5, was a smart kid at age sixteen; but he
lost his smarts when he was middle-aged. He had what we call a mid-life
crisis. The pressures of the world can and will exert stress on our thinking and
all of a sudden we ask, "What happened?"

In that fifth verse we read, "And he continued to seek God, and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper." That can happen at sixteen or sixty (or as the world calls forty, a time when life begins).

We are not to grow older and become proud of our achievements. God
provides our strength. There are a lot of modern-day Uzziahs around. We can learn
so much from those who have gone before us, and we don't have to repeat their
mistakes in our own lives. The nice thing to remember is that we are never too old (while
we are alive) to catch ourselves and return to what we know is best.

Malachi 3:6, remember? "I am the Lord, and I change not."
