God used 66 writers, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, His Word became a
well-written work of art. No sentences begin with "Well", the way we hear
people speak today. Can you imagine how different the Book would be if most
of the sentences began with "Well, God created the earth" or "Well, they went
on down to Jerusalem", etc. We tend to develop and then accept lazy speech
habits, which spills over into our writing.
Colossians 4:4-5 tells us: "That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time."
That is telling me that I need to make what I say clear to those who are listening.
God knew the importance of communication in our lives, but He also knew that we
would have the tendency to slip. We do slip in our speech, but isn't it nice to read
from a book that sets the pattern correctly for us? The Bible does just that!
