Want to feel good about yourself for a minute? Here is a commandment that
I feel none of you have ever broken. It is found in Deuteronomy 25:4, "You shall
not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Most of us have never seen an ox
up close, let alone owned one, so I feel certain we have not erred in that one! But,
that same verse is pulled into the New Testament by Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:9,
and 1 Timothy 5:18. In 1 Corinthians it is used to ask the question, "Is it oxen God
is concerned about?" And in 1 Timothy 5:18 it is used to make the statement, "The
laborer is worthy of his wages." Paul must have known his Bible and was skilled in
using what God said to apply it to things of today. God not only takes care of the oxen,
but everything else He created. The "laborers" mentioned in 1 Timothy could be
speaking of anyone who is going and teaching others about the benefits of serving
God. Think about it!
