In the late hours of April 26, 1986, two engineers were working on a little project.
They were conducting an unauthorized experiment in their control center at a
nuclear power plant. The experiment required them to take the power level of
the reactor down to see how long the turbine would spin with the power removed
from it.
This experiment would leave the reactor in a dangerously unstable condition for
the length of the experiment. While pulling the power levels down so that they
could perform this experiment, there were no less than six separate computer-driven
alarm systems that they would have to manually override as they continued toward
their testing level.
So, one by one the alarms would sound. "Stop! You Are In A Dangerous Situation!
Turn Back!" But, these warnings were shut off, and ignored. At 1:21 AM, reactor
#4 exploded! The news was horrible. Nuclear fallout that could be recorded around
the world. Thousands of people, including my high school friend Nick's relatives,
effected by the largest industrial accident in history. The place was Chernobyl!
But, this activity is not so rare. We see warning, after warning in the Bible! The
instructions are all there in black and white (and RED), and we tend to ignore them
and put ourselves, and others in danger.
Warning! 2 Thessalonians 1:7:-10 says, "...when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven
with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God,
and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and
from the glory of His power,
10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among
all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed."
Warning! We know that one day it will be too late to accept the Lord's offer of Salvation!
2 Peter 3:9-13 tells us, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness,
but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with
a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it
will be burned up.
11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in
holy conduct and godliness,
12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved,
being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness
dwells.
Warning! Matthew 7:13-14 Tells us, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way
that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Listen to the warnings! Don't turn them off and don't walk away from them!
Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!
