While traveling, an investor stopped off to visit a friend. The friend was a well-known
stockbroker, and someone who he had corresponded with through the years. Following
the directions that he had been given, he came to the place where the stockbroker lived.
The residence was a small apartment complex. It seemed out of character for the man
to live in such a place. So, the investor double checked to make sure he had read it right.
He walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. The person who answered the door
was the familiar friend he had expected.

As he went into the home he noticed the small, modest surroundings and furniture.
There were no pictures hanging and not much in the way of decorations at all.

They talked for a while, then the visitor said, "Frank, this place has potential,
why not put some money into it and remodel? You could put in new carpeting,
updated fixtures and make this a little show place."

The stockbroker answered, "It's not a very wise investment, Bill. You see, this
is not my home! I'm just staying here temporarily until my home is built. I am
focusing my energy and time on that permanent residence. So, it doesn't make
sense to invest a lot of time and resources on this place, and then end up leaving
it behind." He continued, "I already have the deed to the new house. Here is
the address. I don't want to get too comfortable here, knowing that I will be in
my permanent home soon."

You probably know exactly where I am heading with this. All that we have
in this earth is temporary! There is coming a day when all of this will be gone.
Remember the hymn that says, "This world is not my home, I'm just passing
through..." That come straight from the scriptures, 2 Peter 3:10 is just one place.

The Apostles knew this. I was clear to them when they wrote things like,
"while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are
eternal." in 2 Corinthians 4:8. Or again in 2 Corinthians 5:2, "For in this we groan,
earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,".

There is a day when we will leave all of this behind and head to our PERMANENT
residence. Where will you be?

Have a wonderful day!
