I got a chance this past weekend, to do something that always
turns out to be fun. I spent some time with our young people.
It always amazes me how much they know, and how much they
learn from us on a daily basis.
The event was the Bible Bowl. Basically an all day test of knowledge
for the youth on certain books of the Bible. One of the things that
was said by a fellow preacher, "I am glad I am not having to take
the test." The questions were based on Ruth and Daniel. The kids
did an excellent job, but that statement is what has stuck in my mind.
It was the idea that these kids, who had come from all over the south,
were teaching us adults a lesson. Learn the scriptures! Enjoy doing it!
Have fun with those who believe like you do!
There is a word that is used in computer that these kids already know,
and it is 'firmware'. It is a noun that means, "coded instructions that are
stored permanently in read-only memory". That is the HARDWIRED
instructions that the device needs to operate normally. Most of us are
lacking our firmware. We need to spend our time, inputting those
instructions that will help us function normally.
Proverbs 9:8-10
8 Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you;
Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 “ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
John 6:44-46 talks of that HARDWIRED learning from GOD. We put so
much confidence in man-made things, but we don't spend the time making sure
that we have the Word of God in us. God has given us so much so that we
are completely equipped for service to Him in this word. Make sure that you have
the WHOLE program in you, with all the instructions in place to get you through
the day! It begins with a 1 verse and continues through a life of study.
Have a great day!
