When President Kennedy was in office, he often used a quote from
Confucius, "Victory has a thousand fathers; defeat is an orphan." I like the
deep thought in that quote. If we contemplate that thought, we realize we all tend
to take credit for the successes in our lives. We also tend to blame any
failure on the shortcomings of others. What we really ought to do is realize that
all victory can be credited to God.

1 John 5:4 reminds us, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the
world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

Victory is mine saith the Lord. If there is any failure or
shortcomings it is on our part, not His. When are we ever going to realize that God gets the
credit for everything? After all, He is the creator of all things and the author
and finisher of our faith. (That's from Hebrews 12:2)

Confucius spoke of things of this world and the Bible speaks of the
things of this world and the world beyond. Spend your time contemplating the
things of above and putting the credit where credit is due.
