I want you to picture something. Think of yourself, sitting at the dinner table.
It has been a pretty normal day when all of the sudden there is an interruption.
In fact, there are several. At the end of these back-to-back interruptions you find
that you have lost all of your belongings, all of your wealth, your lively hood, but
especially you have lost the majority of your family. All of this in the blink of an
eye. How would you react? Unfortunately, with recent events in this world, this
is not so hard to imagine. What do we see time and time again? People
saying the same thing. "Why did this happen to me?" "What did I do to deserve
this?" Or, the scariest of all, "What kind of a God would allow this to happen?"

Well, as usual, the scripture keep us fully equipped to see where we should be
at times like these. I know you know the story of Job. I have heard people talk
about the patience of Job, but what about the faith of Job. At hearing of his
enormous loss, he fell on his face and worshiped God (Job 1:20). He saw
the grander scheme of life and in verse 21 said, "The Lord gave, and the Lord
has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord."

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the situation, that we forget ourselves
and who we are supposed to be. Philippians 4:4 tells us, "Rejoice in the Lord
always. Again I will say, rejoice!" Paul tells us in verse 11 of that same chapter,
"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am,
to be content:". That seems so far from us today, but after all this was a man
who sang in the prison, after receiving a beating! (Acts 16:16-34).

How do we look at our own situation? Do we see distress, or a chance to
praise God and glorify Him?

Have a great day!!!
