Children's fairy tales often include some magic object - a lamp, a ring, some
magic word - and that gives people the ability to do some astonishing things.
They use that ability to turn people into toads or cast a spell or travel by magic
carpet to worlds unknown. The tale that used to intrigue me was "The Midas
Touch".
I found that on the internet and re-read it the other day because someone had
mentioned Galatians 3:27 to me. "For as many of you as have been baptized
into Christ have put on Christ." There's that "Midas Touch". Christ can change
your life. He can set you free. He has all power and authority from God to do
just that. That isn't magic. That is what we know from Scripture as truth from
our Creator.
Christ, when He left this earth, left us with the Holy Spirit to continue to touch and
change lives. Notice, however, what that first part of that verse says, "..as many of
you as have been baptized..." He is talking about changing people who are obedient
to His Word. I quote Mark 16:16 a lot, "He that believeth AND is baptized shall be
saved.." There are others I won't quote at this time. Baptism, as we learn from the
Bible, is for the remission of sins. Let Him touch you today and turn you into something
more valuable than gold.
