Oh, poor ole political candidates. What they said and did in their past always
comes back to slap them, doesn't it? The actions of individuals who are caught
up in a "whatever" thing indicates to others that it must be the way they are.

II Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." I like that
verse. It tells me that my past life will be forgotten and forgiven by God when I
accept Jesus as my personal Savior.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones." We used to use that as children to let
others know they can't hurt us. As adults, we can add, "If God be for us, who can
be against us." We have the assurance, from God, that our past may come up
again. However, it will not keep us from being a child of His when we have been
obedient to what He has asked. When we walk in the path that He has laid out,
we have a newness, a fresh start. The story is not finished. God has to be figured
in all that we say and do from now on.
