I lack. I lack, so I ask. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask
of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
I need wisdom for the everyday, ordinary things in life, as well as for the unusual
things that happen in my life.
I like the fact stated that if I need it, God will generously give it. When I find myself
standing at a door that is clearly marked "push", and I am pulling, I don't want to
continue to pull harder. I want the wisdom to read the sign. I think some of you are
just like I am. We lack wisdom but just don't ask for it.
I am learning that the difference between the wise and not-so-wise is that the wise
know enough to ask God. That surely beats standing in front of a door pulling, while
a crowd stands around laughing because they know it opens the other way.
You lack? Ask!
