As most of the congregation here in Gastonia know, I love quotes. Some of my
favorites come from Ben Franklin. And one of my favorites is, "Well done is better than
well said." How profound is that? But how true is it? In our teen class on Wednesday
nights, we are studying in Matthew. Jesus, in the sermon on the mount, says in
Matthew 5:13-15

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand,
and it gives light to all who are in the house.

We say more about what it means to be a Christian without ever opening our mouths!
As soon as you make it known that you believe the Bible, people look at you differently.
They notice (whether we do or not) the things that you do, and the things that you say.
They compare that, to what they feel a Christian should be. So for that I will go to another
quote from Mr. Franklin. "What you seem to be, be really." If you need any clarification
of what that means, I will finish with Matthew 5:16.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father in heaven.

Have a wonderful day, and glory be to God!
