How much time we waste. How much time we spend - doing nothing. I think
about how much further I could be along in any function, or station of my life
if I could throw out the box that sits in our living room, and bedrooms.

The L.A. Times reports:

In 1995-96, for example, the average household was tuned in to television for an
average of seven hours and 15 minutes per day; that figure grew by nearly an hour
during the 2005-06 survey period.

That is over 8 hours a day, watching TV. Now, I read a report not too long ago
that reported that what you are doing right now has caught up to the TV watching.
Internet viewing has just made the jump to that infamous goal of "first-class time
waster". What have we done to ourselves. We now socialize online. We get
our information online, and I have now seen more sites offering online worship
services for those who want to 'attend' from the privacy of their own homes.

We count sitting around the TV as family time, instead of conversation (yes,
actually speaking with one another).

Deuteronomy 6:6-8 says,
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you
sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between
your eyes.

I heard the story of a preacher who, when the family sat down to eat, each member of the family
had to recite and discuss a Bible topic before they could eat. Will we ever find our way back to
that? I don't know. But it does give us a picture of time well spent.

Today, take the time to connect with your loved ones. Take the time to reflect on your
blessings. Take time to be holy.

Have a great day!
