At the center of all circular motion there is the same thing, a central point.
For hundreds of years, man believed that the earth was the center of the
universe. They believed that everything revolved around the earth, and the
earth was the central point of all creation. Strangely enough, there is a
growing number of people who still hold this "geocentric" belief.
Now, while we may scoff at this idea that science has seemingly put to bed
long before now, we still have no problem, sometimes, believing that we are
the center of our own universe. Look around in our world today, and you will
see this "homo centric" view of life all around you. We want our place in line.
We want to make sure we make it to the next red light before that other person.
But, the Bible teaches something completely different, doesn't it? Well, yeah.
It does.
Both Matthew 23:11-13 and Luke 14:10-12 teach us,
"10 But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when
he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you
will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.
11 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will
be exalted.”
12 Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper,
do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they
also invite you back, and you be repaid.
Now this is not just a "how to live" statement, but it is doubly a "how to worship"
command. We need to come to the full realization that it is God who is the center
of the universe. He is the center of creation. And, He should be the center of our
lives!
In the chaos of our lives, God stands firm in His central location. Look to Him
and the chaos subsides.
I hope you day is wonderful, and your love for God and each other grows!
