Ever had your authority questioned, and by a seven year old? It can be a bit
daunting - "Who are you?" That is what the little kid asked me when I told him
to go to class. "I'm the preacher," I told him, as I pointed to his class for Sunday
school. Jesus ran into that kind of questioning from time to time too. Remember
in Luke 4:22 when it says they asked, "Is this not Joseph’s son?" It also said in
Luke 5:21 that they asked, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can
forgive sins but God alone?" These questioners wanted to know if He really
was who He said He was and if He had any business intervening in their lives.
In Matthew 21:23, again they asked, "By what authority are You doing these
things?" He does intervene and He will! Don't question His authority - just do it!
