I'm not a good waiter, and if you are honest, you aren't either! I don't mean the
kind of waiter found in a restaurant. I'm talking about the kind that has to stand
in line or wait 60 seconds for the microwave to hurry up. I'm not good at waiting
for the instant grits to be ready. If we stop and think about it, waiting can have a
positive side too. When my wife and I are in the car and I am showing a little
impatience, she will say to me, "Relax, at least we are together and enjoying
each others company." Now, that can be a real treasure. Waiting, with the Lord,
can have a wonderful effect also. Psalm 27:14 tells us, "Wait on the LORD; Be of
good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!"
Waiting is a part of our lives and God knows when it is best to act. In the meantime,
let's enjoy the gift and treasure found in waiting, especially when it is waiting on the
Lord.
