"It takes one to know one." That phrase can be applied to a lot of people. It takes
a magician to know a real magician, they say. It takes people who are struggling with
real issues to recognize, we too, have issues we're struggle with. They may not be in
the same degree, but we struggle just the same. Rather than being critical of someone
else, it might be a good time to ask ourselves, "How am I doing in that area of my own
life?" Maybe we can offer help by being a friend. If nothing else, we can offer
understanding. I am reminded of that often misunderstood verse found in Romans 2:1,
"Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you
judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things." A truly
wise person knows that God is the true judge, but we can recognize a fellow traveler on
the journey called life.
