God save the Queen! Queen Esther, I mean. Her story is an interesting one.
She's a Jewish girl who married King Ahasuerus. The lesson we learn is that she
saved her people by being in the right place and at the right time. Our lesson for
us today is that when we find ourselves threatened by something or someone,
we should become our own best friend. After all, doesn't God promise protection
for His people? Esther found that help - look at Esther 8:4, "Then the king held
out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king."
That sceptre is a rod and in Psalms 23:4, we see that same sceptre or rod mentioned
as a protector: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear
no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Esther stood firm
against evil and won because God was with her. Stand up today and do some good
with that standing.
